Accessibility statement

Sidney Public Library wants everyone in Cheyenne County to be able to use our website, whatever their age, ability or device.

Last updated: October 13, 2026

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make websites easier to use for people with disabilities, including people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, or have motor, speech or learning differences.

What we've built in

  • A "Skip to main content" link and full keyboard navigation with visible focus outlines.
  • Clear headings, labeled landmarks, and text descriptions for meaningful images.
  • Color contrast that meets or exceeds WCAG AA.
  • An accessibility menu (the button in the bottom-right corner) to enlarge text, turn on high contrast, use an easy-read font, underline links, add spacing, and stop animations.
  • Respect for your device's "reduce motion" setting.
  • Pages that work at phone, tablet and desktop sizes and when zoomed to 200%.

Known limitations

  • Some older PDFs and documents may not be fully accessible yet.
  • The online catalog, ebook services and other partner websites are run by outside companies and follow their own accessibility policies.
  • The "Ask Page" chat helper uses AI and may occasionally give incomplete answers; staff are always happy to help directly.
